The Westside Story.......

The term "Westside" comes from the fact that there is a fairly large area of land located between the Croatan Highway (NC Highway 168), and the sound on the west side of our island.  This area tends to be away from the tourist areas, and is therefore more peaceful and quiet.  The majority of the area's year 'round residents live on the west side.

These homes are the least expensive homes on the island. (In general)  Because they are away from the ocean, and most require that you actually get in  your car and drive to the beach, they do not present as good an opportunity for people who want to rent their homes out in a weekly rental program.  They DO, however, offer some possibilities to folks that want to move to the OBX, or who want to rent their property in a year 'round program.  A few folks rent their homes for the 8 - 9 "cooler" months, and live in them during the summer.

If, however, you decide you'd like to go "all-the-way" to the west, well... the price goes back up again!  You see, a Sound Front or Sound Side home can be very beautiful, offering great sunsets and spectacular views of the waters of the sound.  Boat ramps and public accesses make entry into the sound with your boat very easy, and most-times the fishing is quite good.
